This Privacy Policy explains how HandyConnect (operated by La Vita Ghana Limited) collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects Personal Data when you use the HandyConnect mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). We aim to comply with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other applicable laws.
1) Definitions
Personal Data: information that identifies or can identify you (e.g., name, phone number, Ghana Card details, location data).
Sensitive Personal Data: special categories requiring higher protection (e.g., biometric identifiers if ever used).
Controller/Processor: as defined under Act 843.
User: clients, homeowners, property managers, artisans, agencies, and any person using the Services.
La Vita Ghana Limited: the legal entity operating HandyConnect and responsible for data protection compliance.
2) What Data We Collect
A. Account & Identity Data
- Name, phone number, email, profile photo
- Ghana Card details and verification metadata (e.g., ID number, images of ID, verification status)
- Date of birth (if required for verification), address or service area
B. Artisan/Service Provider Data
- Trade category, skills, certifications, trade association details (if provided)
- Work portfolio (photos/videos), tool/equipment evidence, references
- Ratings, job history, dispute/strike history, verification tier
C. Client & Job Data
- Job requests, job descriptions, photos/videos submitted for diagnosis or proof-of-work
- Quotes, invoices, messages, call logs within the app (not your phone carrier logs)
- En Route/status updates and job completion confirmations
D. Location Data
- Approximate location (from IP)
- Precise location (GPS) only if you enable it for matching, En Route tracking, and fraud prevention
E. Payments & Transaction Data
- Payment status, wallet/protection status, payout status, transaction references
We do not store full card details; payments are processed and managed by La Vita Ghana Limited through regulated payment partners. La Vita Ghana Limited may process payment details under their own policies and Act 843 compliance framework.
F. Device & Usage Data
- Device identifiers, app version, crash logs, analytics events, and security logs
3) How We Use Your Data (Purposes)
- Provide the Services (account creation, matching, job management, payment protection, payouts)
- Verify identity and reduce fraud/scams (KYC checks, tiering, risk scoring)
- Facilitate communications between clients and artisans
- Process payments and resolve disputes (via La Vita Ghana Limited)
- Improve safety and quality (ratings, investigations, enforcement of rules)
- Provide customer support and operational notices
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests by regulators or law enforcement
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and protect users and the platform
4) Legal Basis for Processing (Act 843 Principles)
We process data based on one or more of the following (as applicable):
- Consent (e.g., optional GPS, marketing messages)
- Performance of a contract (providing the Services you request)
- Legitimate interests (fraud prevention, platform security, service improvement)
- Legal obligation (tax, regulatory compliance, lawful requests)
Where required, we will request explicit consent and provide options to withdraw it.
5) Sharing & Disclosure of Data
A. Other Users
Clients and artisans may see limited profile and job-related information necessary to complete a job (e.g., name, ratings, service area, job details).
B. Service Providers (Processors)
- La Vita Ghana Limited (payment processing, fund management, payouts)
- Identity verification vendors (if used)
- Cloud hosting, analytics, customer support tools
All processors are required to protect data and use it only for providing services to us.
C. Authorities & Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other authorities where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: comply with a legal obligation or lawful request; investigate fraud, theft, threats, or safety incidents; enforce our Terms, prevent harm, or protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
D. Business Transfers
If La Vita Ghana Limited undergoes a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale, data may be transferred subject to confidentiality and applicable law.
6) Fraud Prevention, Evidence Capture & Scammer Handling
To protect users, we may:
- Require identity verification (including Ghana Card) and trade proof
- Collect and retain job evidence (photos/videos, timestamps, messages, location metadata where enabled)
- Use automated and manual checks to detect suspicious behavior
- Suspend/ban accounts and share relevant information with affected users and authorities where lawful
- Maintain internal do-not-serve and risk lists to prevent repeat offenders, subject to Act 843 principles
7) Data Retention
We keep Personal Data only as long as necessary for the purposes described, including: active account management; dispute resolution and fraud investigations; and legal, tax, and regulatory requirements. Retention periods may vary by data type. We may retain certain records longer where required by law or for legitimate interests (e.g., fraud prevention).
8) Security Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, such as: access controls and least-privilege permissions; encryption in transit and (where feasible) at rest; audit logs and monitoring; secure payment processing via La Vita Ghana Limited and regulated partners. No system is 100% secure; you use the Services at your own risk.
9) Your Rights (Data Subject Rights)
Subject to Act 843 and applicable exceptions, you may request to: access and obtain a copy of your Personal Data; correct inaccurate data; delete or restrict processing (where applicable); object to certain processing; and withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent). 10) Cross-Border Transfers
If we transfer data outside Ghana (e.g., cloud hosting), we will take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with Act 843.
11) Children
The Services are not intended for children under 18. If we learn we collected data from a child, we will delete it where required.
12) Marketing
We may send service-related messages (e.g., job updates). Marketing messages will be sent only where permitted, and you can opt out.

We may update this policy. We will post updates and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
